Material: Country Orchard by Blackbird Designs
See what happens when I don't blog much......I get projects finished.
I had a deadline for this romantic quilt and am very happy to say that I have made it with a few weeks to spare.
Just to recap, Garden Party is for mums 80th birthday and a combination of applique and embroidery. I purchased a layer cake plus some extra lengths of the plain colours for the borders.
Now that I have done my part, off she went to the quilters. Mandy from Seams Sew Together has done a wonderful job on my previous quilt and this time is no exception.
I'm also linking up to the Stitchery Link party over at Super Mom - No Cape so pop over and take a look at the other beautiful embroidery on show.
READY FOR BINDING |
ALL LOADED UP ON QUILTING FRAME |
CENTRE PANEL |
CHECK OUT THOSE BORDERS |
- blue: continuous hearts on a string
- apricot: feathers
- crimson: feather variation.
TEAPOT BLOCK |
SEE THOSE FLOWERS IN EACH SQUARE...LOVELY |
Of course all I have left to do is to pop on the binding, attached a hanging sleeve and Bobs your uncle.

Hello Dawn! What a beautiful quilt. Your applique and embroidery work is stunning and the lovely machine quilting has really set it all off. Your mum is going to be delighted with it! :) x
Wow Dawn this quilt is amazing, love it,well done xx
What a pretty quilt Dawn. The fabulous quilting really sets off your work.
Hi Dawn, oh I'd noticed you weren't blogging much, now I know why!!
Dawn, you've done a really beautiful job of the quilt - I love your fabrics - & the quilting has really done it justice.
I'm sure your Mum will thoroughly love-love-love her gift & will smile to see it on her wall.
Congrats, It's gorgeous!
Oh my goodness Dawn this is one of the prettiest quilts I've ever seen! Your stitching is just perfect. I love it so much I've got the pattern in a cart in one of your Australian shops and waiting to see what the shipping is to the US. :) I'm a little nervous to order it because my blanket stitching (applique?) is not very even, and my embroidery skills are not what they used to be.
Are you going to go ahead and give it to your Mom early? Does she read your blog - has she seen it yet?
The quilting on it is beautiful.
Great job!
Dawn, what a gorgeous, gorgeous quilt! Wow. I absolutely love it! The quilting is fabulous, too. Beautiful work!
Lovely quilt. I really liked the hearts on the blue borders...all so very cute!

OK I ordered the pattern! I found it on sale at Maggie Robertson Designs. Hopefully it won't take me too many years to finish it. ;)
Dear Dawn,
such a beautiful quilt, wonderful fine colors, it looks so delicate. You have done a great job on applique and setting color combinations together. Beautiful fabrics too, I am delighted and motivated by your pictures.
Greetings,
Sylvia
The quilt you made for your mother's birthday is gorgeous! It must have taken you hours just for the applique and embroidery alone.
